Asda locks up tobacco booth

Kiosk inside Asda Store Now you won't see tobacco displayed on the shelves in Asda store. You have to ask the sales lady what brand you want and she will look up from labels on the drawers. It's not very good news for some new tobacco products, people will have no chance to compare the price. But normally smokers are stick to one brand. The first chain store company in the world: W.H. Smith

W.H. Smith is the first chain store company in the world and was responsible for the creation of the ISBN book catalogue system. ISBN catalogue invention. In 1792 Henry Walton Smith and his wife Anna established W H Smith as a news vendor business in London. The firm took advantage of the railway boom by opening newsstands on railway stations, starting with Euston in 1848. They also made use of the railways to become the leading national distributor of newspapers. They were the only newsagent found at London railway stations in the early years, which allows them to claim to be the company to use a chain store format in the world. In 1966, W H Smith originated a 9-digit code for uniquely referencing books, called Standard Book Numbering or SBN. Sainsbury's remove free carrier bags at checkouts

We went shopping this Friday, and found that Sainsbury's has removed free carrier bags from all of its checkouts "to encourage its customers to re-use bags". The checkout cashier always asks me if I need help packing, It takes me a long time to get used to this question. Now she has another question, asking me if I need any free bags. Customers can still ask single-use free bags, but are encouraged to re-use their bags by rewarding extra loyalty points through the Nectar card scheme, one point for one bag. But the checkout lady seems always to be confused by my large Debenhams' shopping bag, because different checkout lady rewards me different numbers of points, from 0 to 9 points.

Tesco Gift Card for Neighbour

We bought a Tesco Gift Card and a thank-you card for our neighbour for looking after our daughter. All midwives and doctors said we had very good neighbour when they learned that our elder daughter was being looked after by our neighbour. Our neighbour is Indian, strictly speaking, they are Tamil, come from Sri Lanka. But we normally call all those people Indo-pakistanian. I am quite surprised that they are vegetarian, even no fish and egg, strictly speaking, they are vegan. But they face doesn't show any vegetable colour, they looks very healthy and even a little bit overweight. This might be the reason why they couldn't get along with my daughter, because she is a meat-eater, no vegetables. I couldn't found £50 face value Sainsbury's gift card, choose from 3 denomination £5, £10, and £20. But Tesco gift card is not pre-designed without a fixed value, I can load a specific value onto a Gift Card. It is reported that Sainsbury's was launching a new Gift Card program...

Can we use a shopping cart as baby cot?

A shopping cart is called "trolley" in British English, many other names in English speaking world. Supermarket trolleys are nested within each other in a line to facilitate moving many at one time, and to save on storage space. They normally inter-locked together, and need one pound coin to unlock. When you finish shopping, return the trolley to the trolley park, and get back your coin. One day I found that we actually can use a twenty pence coin, or an Euro coin, that's much "cheaper". In one lucky day, I found a standalone trolley, a pound coin was still in the lock hole. So I took this trolley to do shopping, then returned the trolley and pocketed the lucky money. In one TESCO store, all trolleys are fixed with wheel-lock, they can't be taken out beyond the car park perimeter.
